Harry Brook the England white-ball captain discussed the Indian Premier League (IPL) ban which led to his unexpected departure from the 2025 season after his team nominated him.
Brook justified his INR 6.25 crore acquisition price at the IPL mega auction in Jeddah to represent Delhi Capitals when he was just 26 years old. At the final hour the right-handed batter decided to exit the tournament which set off a strict policy implemented by the IPL governing council.
The Rule That Sparked the Ban
Participation in the tournament and player auction will become forbidden to any participant who opts out of their team commitments after getting selected in the auction before season commencement for two seasons.
Throughout his IPL exclusion Brook violated a newly established governing council rule preventing him from competition until at least 2027.
Brook Prioritises England Duties
The banby triggered action caused Brook to give his first interview at Headingley Cricket Ground. Since Jos Buttler left the position Brook has earned the British selection as their official leader for white ball competition.
The officials have not delivered an official statement to me yet. A ban would be fair according to the announced rule which governs this situation. I devote all my dedication to represent England on the cricket field.
The choice for Brook extended beyond cricket because he wanted to demonstrate his dedication.
As far as England representation went I would risk giving up small monetary amounts repeatedly. I will not participate in any franchise cricket competitions during the upcoming years. The entire international game remains my sole point of attention.
According to the player his priority now involves national cricket for England whenever possible.
A Message to Fans and Delhi Capitals
On Instagram Brook reached out to fans by sending an apology which expressed his remorse to Delhi Capitals and their grupos of supporters.
I have taken a tough decision to withdraw from the upcoming edition of the IPL. I deeply apologize to the Delhi Capitals organization together with their entire fan base.
He wanted to fully dedicate his efforts toward England cricket preparation for the upcoming series this important period.
